About this calculator: This calculator uses the Pooled Cohort Equations (PCE) developed and validated by the ACC/AHA (American College of Cardiology/American Heart Association) Work Group. The calculator estimates the 10-year risk of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease in patients between 40 and 79 years of age without previous cardiovascular disease. A person is considered to be at elevated risk if the result is ≥ 7.5%. This calculator also takes into consideration the patient’s polygenic risk score as it is considered a potentiating factor that increases the risk of coronary artery disease. Disclaimer: The CAD-PRS risk calculator is based on the PCE which were developed and validated among Caucasian and African American men and women who did not have clinical ASCVD. Although efforts have been made to demonstrate the applicability of the PCE across ethnicities, due to a lack of validation data, the PCE may underestimate the 10-year and lifetime risk for persons from some race/ethnic groups, especially American Indians, some Asian Americans (e.g., of south Asian ancestry), and some Hispanics (e.g., Puerto Ricans), and may overestimate the risk for others, including some Asian Americans (e.g., of east Asian ancestry) and some Hispanics (e.g., Mexican Americans). Because the primary use of these risk estimates is to facilitate the important discussion regarding risk reduction through lifestyle change, the imprecision introduced is small enough to justify proceeding with lifestyle change counseling informed by these results. This calculator is not a medical device and is not considered a substitute for medical care. It is intended to provide approximate information about the risk of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease based on the patient’s clinical and genetic factors. The risk calculation is subject to the veracity of the data entered by the physician or patient. No data is stored by Veritas Intercontinental, and no report is issued with the results of the calculator. We recommend that you share the result.
